Beautiful inside — and out! Chemistry Gin wins Prestigious design award

It’s official! Chemistry Gin is beautiful outside, as well as in!

We’re delighted to announce we’ve won an award at the 2024 International Wine and Spirits Competition’s Design Awards.

Chemistry Gin has won a design award at the 2024 International Wine and Spirits Competition in London.

Chemistry Gin was awarded “Highly Commended” in the “Contemporary Design” category. The most hotly-contested category in the Design Competition, the top prize went to Woven Hemispheres Blended Whisky.

In awarding Chemistry Gin one of only four “Highly Commended” awards, the judges noted:

“The tactile label, with an almost molecular approach, really helps this bottle stand out.”

The judges were impressed that every part of the bottle represented the theme of the brand. "It’s uncomplicated but strikingly different and inviting," shared Ivan Dixon.

Chemistry Gin’s stunning packaging was designed by SingleDouble in Auckland. The multi-award-winning design firm specialises in drinks packaging.

SingleDouble founder Trudy Hunt noted:

“It's wonderful to see Chemistry awarded this recognition. It's a progressive design made possible by Laura and Marie from Karori Drinks Co. being bold enough to embrace such an unconventional expression of science.”

Interestingly, among the winning entries, only Chemistry Gin uses an ‘off-the-shelf’bottle — the other entries were bespoke bottles.

Also “Highly Commended” in this category, Match Tonic Water, like Chemistry Gin, uses an Estal bottle featuring WildGlass — 100 per cent post-consumer glass.

Today’s Chemistry Gin design award from IWSC joins an impressive list of design accolades the New Zealand small-batch gin has already accrued. They include “Black” and “Gold” awards at the World Brand Society Awards, “Gold” and “Label Category Winner” at the New Zealand Pride in Print Awards, and Gold at the New Zealand Institute of Designers “Best” Awards.
